first heard this song as a 7 year old in 1976 and its still in my mind today since the first time i heard it,what a brilliant piece of perfectly written music along with thousands of other 60s/70s songs, definately no talent around since the 1970s,very sad remembering such good music is no longer made, music in those days was written to strike at your heart n soul and connected you to your loved ones who had passed away, you listen to the last 30 years of rubbish with no meaning and it saddens you.

A friend of ILB holds the belief that Frankie Valli is one of the five legitimate geniuses to have ever worked in the music industry. It’s a belief we find it impossible to argue with. Dude may have fucked up in his efforts to overthrow Johnny Sack back in series 6, but other than that it’s basically been plain sailing for the guy.

Bullshitting yourself as some sort of quasi “expert” with regards to Valli is pretty easy these days. As all of our readers who weren’t breastfed as babies would know, FV&TFS have bodied the world of musical theatre over the past half-decade with “Jersey Boys”, and the resulting fever for this has led to, on average, a Four Seasons “best of” or box set being released every fortnight. Eventually they’ve had to get around to putting out the b-sides as well, and you too can now cosplay as a Northern Soul DJ circa 1973 by refusing to play something anyone has heard of and instead going to bat for b-sides of bands who were pretty low down Motown’s list of priorities instead.

Seriously, though: real men singing with falsettos, real man make music has good as “The Night”. Frankie Valli makes me proud to be a guinea.

Also shout out to the guy who got to this blog searching for “prancehall”, “ich luge bullets prancehall” and “dom passantino cunt”. Hopefully you found what you were looking for.

Classic OTF Did THIS dude really just say that?moment : Simon Price having the audacity to call Frankie Valli ” a bit funny looking” when he first popped up in The Sopranos.

I’m unsure why a song of such greatness is not better known. From the ominous opening to the powerful, driving chorus this song is truely extrordinary.
