Music might not be entirely dreadful in 2010 part 1: DJ Quik and Suga Free – Noboby
I appreciate that there are rappers out there right now who aren’t Suga Free, I’m just not sure why there needs to be.
So you like that Kurupt and DJ Quik album from last year, I liked that Kurupt and DJ Quik album from last year…. unfortunately we were alone, the only other people who cared about it were those Dutch and Norwegian “keepers of the true hip-hop flame” guys who maintain blogs full of Royal Flush b-sides hosted on Rapidshare. The upcoming album uniting long-time dudes who had some sort of grievance or other a few years back DJ Quik and Suga Free will probably likewise be ignored by the readers of those blogs with 300-comment long threads that just talk about a) who went hardest b) who went in c) how about that Utah Jazz this year guys?
So Quik drops “The Book of David” later this year, and SF’s here to let you know that he was personally hurt by John Mayer’s comments, that Michael Jackson is dead, and that Tiger Woods shouldn’t apologise to prostitutes, and should instead hit them with golf clubs. My only disappointment here is that it dropped too late for Free’s opinions on the GQ interview with that skitz broad who stole John Edwards’ from the lass with cancer.
Anyway, even a Suga Free going at a 6 (as he has for his past two albums) is preferable to 99.99% of rappers out there right now. At an 8 like he is here, I doubt there’s anyone better. At a ten… well, there’s Youtubes for that. Plus now Katt Williams is in the loony bin, Suga Free’s got an interrupted run at the title.
(and if anyone can find that picture of Donald Rumsfeld cocking his pimp-arm with the caption “I’ll never hit a woman, but I’ll slap the shit out of a bitch”, it’d be appreciated)
