Shaka Rock is the third studio album by Australian rock band Jet, scheduled to be released on 25 August 2009.

Are Jet specifically trying to call to mind what the fiery deaths of the entire lights and sound crew of Def II in 1991 would have looked like? Or have they just figured that being as nobody is going to buy a copy of this album ever they can put whatever they want on the cover, safe in the knowledge that Pitchfork will just end up reviewing it with a Keyboard Cat montage instead. Still, at least the uber-exciting “electronic press release” for this album has informed me that not only was it produced by an ex-member of Young Heart Attack, but that two of YHA were previously in Fastball. Turn-of-the-century music: if it wasn’t nu-metal or 2-step, it was probably shit.

Wait, Jet are still playing music? Sorry, I stopped listening to Australian public radio broadcasting years ago, big man. That DEF II reference brings the Carmodism into what really is just a blog standard post at best.

I was hoping for a Setanta zing, through.

You’re not the only one, big man. I’m gonna miss the exciting Batista guest spot on Neighbours.

As long as you’re around for Lily Allen’s you’ll be fine.
